Shravanabelagola : Toward the south east of Hassan at a distance of 31 km is situated one of the most important Jain Pilgrimage centre. There is to be found the 17 m high monolith of Lord Bahubali, which is counted among the world’s tallest monolithic statue. Thousands of devotees gather at this place to perform the Mahamastakabhisheka ceremony held once in every 12 years. During the much awaited ceremony the statue is bathed with milk, curds, ghee, saffron and gold coin.

Belur : Belur, 38 km from Hassan is located on the banks of the Yagachi river. It was once the all important capital of the Hoysala empire which ruled the southern territory in the period between 11th to 14th century. The place is unforgettable for the Exquisite temples. One of the famous temples located there is the Chennakeshava Temple decorated with intricate sculptures and friezes. Mural paintings of Elephants, dancers in various poses are to be seen there. The filigree pillars are even more attractive in its design. Nearby is the Veeranarayana Temple which too attracts a lot of attention from the visitors.

Halebid : The Place of Halebid lies 27 km north east of Hassan and 17 km east of Belur. The temples situated in Halebid too bears testimony to the rich cultural heritage of the state of Karnataka. In this very place is situated the Hoysaleswara temple that dates back to the 12th century. The temple is well known for the exquisite sculptures present there. The walls of the temple are complete with paintings of gods and goddesses, animals and dancing girls. One cannot find two facets of the temple similar in design. A figure of Nandi, the bull in incomplete form stands guard at the temple entrance.

District Museum of Hassan : The District Museum at Hassan, established in 1977, preserves a great collection of archaeological antiquities. On display to the visitors are sculpture, both stone and bronze, inscriptions and coins. Also laid out are ancient paintings, arms and weapons. The museum is located in the Maharaja Park.

Other interesting sites nearby to the place of Hassan is the Hasanamba Shrine. It is a temple with the idol representing the deity of Hasanamba. The temple shrine is open to the visitors only for a week in a year in the month of October. The fair by the name of Jatra is held on the special occasion
