Being the largest city of the state Madhya Pradesh in central India, Indore is situated on the Malwa Plateau on the river banks of two splendid streams, the Saraswati and the Khan adorned with the ancient 18th century temple of Lord Indereshwar is where the name of the city got its existence.

The city holds marvelous collection of majestic temples and brilliant monuments with an enriching historical significance which puts light on the ancient rulers and several dynasties like the famous Halkers, who ruled over Indore and kept their reminiscent, to enthrall the visitors with the tradition and heritage of this place. Situated at the backdrop of a scenic enviourment, at an altitude of 553m level, it is a charming city with panoramic view of Mother Nature along with its unparallel splendors. The exquisite climate and windy and cool atmosphere makes it a perfect location for the tourists. Apart from this there are few qualities of the city which authorize the people to present a perfect balance between its historical magnificence with the bustling and dynamic future in front of the visitors. And this notion is fulfilled with the help of various attractive places, shopping centers, excellent roadways, facilities for education and industrial revolution which is slowly taking its toll at the fullest in Indore. Climate in Indore

The climate in Indore is considered to be somewhat extreme. Summers are hot and roasting with temperature escalating to a maximum of 45C. However due to location advantage the nights are comparatively cooler with cool breeze flowing in the Malwa Plateau. The monsoon season stays from June to September with considerable rainfall washing the city. The winter season follows from December to February with chill atmosphere and temperature falling to a minimum of 2C-3C. The ideal time for visiting Indore is from October to March.

The nearest airport to Indore is the Devi Ahilyabhai Holker airport situated at a distance of 10km from the heart of the city. It is well connected to several domestic airports of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Bhopal etc.

Situated on the western railway zone lays the Indore railway junction, and it is connected to several places within the country.

Indore By Road

Both government buses as well as private buses are available in Indore to travel in an around the city. Regular bus services are available from Mumbai and Delhi to reach Indore.
